TripAdvisor, the travel planning and booking website, has announced the winners of its Travelers' ChoiceTM Awards for Sites of Tourist Interest. The annual awards were determined using an algorithm that takes into account the quantity and quality of comments and classifications for the sites of interest in the world, over a period of 12 months. The awards award 706 sites of interest in 82 countries.
Spain has ten sites of interest winners, half of them Andalusians. Of these, three of them recognized with prizes at European level and two among the world top 10: The Mezquita-Cathedral of Cordoba has been awarded as the best site of interest in Europe and Spain and has the 3rd position worldwide. Travelers describe this historic place as "stunning and unique", "a must see" or "a magical place".
The Plaza de España, in Seville, also stands out with the 2nd national position, 4th of Europe and 9th in the world. This monument has received excellent opinions from travelers, such as "essential", "precious" or "surprising". The Alhambra, in Granada, has been recognized as the 3rd best in Spain and 12th in Europe. "Magnificent work of art", "history in its pure state" or "imposing" are some of the descriptions that the Alhambra has received. Real Alcazar and the Cathedral, in Seville, have been awarded nationally with the 5th and 9th place, respectively. The national ranking is completed by the Basilica of the Sagrada Familia, Casa Batlló, and Magic Fountain (Font Màgica), in Barcelona, ​​the Royal Palace of Madrid, and Le Seu Cathedral in Palma de Mallorca.
